About Us

Dr. Anthony
Evelyn Y. Anthony, MD

Welcome to the Department of Radiology in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida. We are one of twenty-five clinical/basic science departments in the college – the largest of six colleges in the Health Science Center.

The Department of Radiology is committed to providing comprehensive patient care programs, exceptional educational experiences, and cutting edge research. The majority of these programs are conducted at our primary teaching hospital – Shands at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida. We are also affiliated with the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center and have strong partnerships with multiple hospitals in north Florida under the UF Health umbrella.

Patient care is provided by fellowship-trained subspecialists across ten clinical divisions: Abdominal Imaging; Breast Imaging; Cardiac and Thoracic Imaging; Musculoskeletal Radiology, Neuroradiology; Nuclear Medicine; Pediatric Radiology; Ultrasonography; Vascular and Interventional Radiology; and two basic science divisions: Informatics and Physics. Each of these divisions is supported by outstanding technologists, nurses, APPs, and administrative staff who together create the team experience that enhances patient care in every way.

The UF Department of Radiology is known nationally for its strength in medical education. Our dedicated programs include medical student rotations; an ACGME-accredited DR residency program, multiple ACGME-approved subspecialty fellowship programs; a medical physics PhD program and postdoctoral training; and regular radiology continuing education experiences. We prize sending our trainees into the profession with our name on them.

Our research program is focused on translational research. We partner with industry, government, and philanthropic foundations to improve care pathways, develop and test new tools for imaging diagnosis and image-guided procedures, and advance best practices in educating adult learners.  The Radionomics and Artifical Intelligence Laboratory (RAIL), led by Reza Forghani, MD, PhD, forms the core of our translational research. The RAIL team of faculty, graduate students, and residents is highly productive, with numerous peer-reviewed articles and invited presentations each year. The research infrastructure team supports the IRB process, grant submissions and manuscript development.

The Department of Radiology is a cohesive team, committed to quality, patient and learner experience, innovations, and collaboration. We recognize that healthcare is local, and cutting-edge treatment, education, and research come about through national and international networks. UF Radiology is poised in between to offer the best to everyone who comes to us.

Sincerely,
