Acknowledging Contributions to Medical Student Radiology Education: Dr. Kevin Pierre’s Research and Leadership
The Department of Radiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine and the Br2AIn Lab proudly recognizes the exceptional contributions of Kevin Pierre, MD, a third-year Radiology resident. Dr. Pierre’s pioneering research in medical imaging education, along with his leadership in developing innovative e-learning modules and remote learning platforms, has significantly advanced the educational experience for medical students.
Born in Queens, New York, with early childhood in Haiti, Dr. Pierre moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida, at age nine. He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he completed the Medical Honors Program. During his preliminary year, he trained in general surgery at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital under Dr. Darwin Ang and contributed to several trauma-related research projects.
His clinical interests encompass neuroradiology, emergency radiology, global health, and artificial intelligence. He is a founding member and secretary of the Society of Haitian Neuroscientists. Following residency, he aims to pursue fellowship training in neuroradiology.
Outside of his medical pursuits, Dr. Pierre enjoys cooking, mountain biking, pickleball, and simulation racing.
During his post-doctoral research fellowship (2022–2023) at the University of Florida Department of Radiology, under the mentorship of Drs. Anthony Mancuso, Reza Forghani, and Roberta Slater, he made notable contributions as Editor-in-Chief of the online “Case-Based Introduction to Radiology” training, developing over 140 educational modules in collaboration with faculty and students.
He has participated extensively in multiple WIDI SIM research projects and has authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, focusing on radiology education, neurotrauma research, and artificial intelligence applications in radiology. He has also served as co-guest editor of a now in-print MDPI special issue on neurotrauma.
