Outreach during a pandemic

When the COVID-19 pandemic indefinitely postponed their visit to the South American country of Guyana, the UF RADAID International Chapter decided to take advantage of video conferencing technology to plan an interactive case conference with the radiology residents of Georgetown Public Hospital.

Led by third year residents, Drs. Carolyn Hanna and Simon Ho, and assistant professor Dr. Priya Sharma, the group organized the inaugural case conference which was held via Zoom on April 20.

Up to this point, interactions between both institutions had been very disconnected, and this case conference provided an opportunity for the Guyanese residents to receive direct feedback and interact face to face with their UF colleagues.

Due to the success of the first case conference, more experiences like this one are planned.  Next time, the Guyanese residents are invited to bring their own interesting and difficult cases to quiz the UF residents since pathologies can vary between the two environments.

Visit the Outreach page for more information about the ongoing outreach endeavors of our UF residents and faculty.
