Florida Radiological Society Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of the Florida Radiological Society (FRS) was held from July 11-13th at the Ritz-Carlton, Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida. There were over 200 attendees with a record of 60 residents participating from throughout the state.

Attending from the University of Florida were faculty Lori Deitte (Professor, Abdominal Imaging) and Jeff Bennett (Associate Professor & Chief, Neuroradiology); fellows Richard Beegle (Neuroradiology) and Erinn Cooke (Breast Imaging/MSK); fourth year residents Garrett Woodbury and Abeer Ahmed; third year residents Aaron Kline, Soo Kim, Mrunal Shah, and Chris Lazo; second year residents Travis Harris, Vani Hegde, Sagar Amin, and Ashish Sethi; and first year resident Jay Salmon.

The poster session also set records with 44 posters submitted. Vani Hegde was awarded third place for her poster, “Deciphering Diplopia – Oculomotor Nerve (CN3) Palsy One of Many Causes”.

Several UF residents were elected to leadership positions in the Resident and Fellows section: Aaron Kline, vice president; Chris Lazo, secretary; and Ashish Sethi, treasurer.

The meeting culminated with Dr Abbitt’s (Professor & Chief, Abdominal Imagin) Legacy Lecture, “The Radiologist as Doctor”, which highlighted our roles as patient advocates. There is no better example of this than Dr Abbitt and her address made us all proud to be Radiologists.
